What to review before you apply — so the application works the first time
Most rejections are predictable. The information banks assess — your records, commitments, income documents — can be reviewed before you apply. Ten minutes of preparation often changes the outcome.
The pre-application review
- 1 · Know your own records
Review your CTOS and CCRIS reports before any bank does. Check for errors, forgotten facilities, or conduct issues you can explain or fix.
- 2 · Total your real commitments
List every monthly obligation — instalments, cards, financing. This figure determines your DSR headroom.
- 3 · Prepare verifiable income documents
Recent payslips, EPF statements and bank statements that tell one consistent story. Self-employed? Clean separation of business and personal banking matters.
- 4 · Match the product to your position
Amount, tenure and product type should fit what your verified position supports — not just what you'd like.
- 5 · Space out applications
Avoid firing multiple applications at once. Each one is recorded, and a cluster of applications reads as financial stress.
- 6 · Deal only with verified people
If anyone claims to represent a firm — including MAC — verify their identity and payment details through official channels before sharing documents or paying anything.
If you're not sure where you stand
That's precisely the situation an assessment is for. The MAC Financial Health Report reviews your verified position — credit standing, conduct, commitments, borrowing range — and recommends the strategy and next step that fit it, reviewed with a senior advisor. It's advisory, not an approval promise: the goal is that when you do apply, you apply for the right thing, properly prepared.
